Hello
everyone! This week we looked at ESF quad soil data to predict what plants the
could thrive in the current soil conditions. This information was collected from Professor
Russell Briggs and Assistant Professor Tim Toland. We created a prezi to better
organize charts and tables about the soil, and suggest some plants that could
be implemented into the quad's new design. Click here to view our prezi!
A campus quad is a place to study or blow off some steam from all of those difficult courses. We want the SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry quad to reflect the wants and needs of the ESF students. Through examples of other quad designs, feedback, and a little bit of scientific research on the soil conditions of our current quad, we plan to develop a new design for the ESF quad which maximizes its function and aesthetic value.
Nice presentation, I'm glad that you acknowledged the importance of soil composition in deciding what would grow best. I also like the way you summed up what plants would be suitable...although, I hope no one chooses Box elder to put on the quad because due to its fast growth, it is a weak wooded tree and can easily break :/
ReplyDeleteThanks! We'll definitely take that into consideration!
